About Me

Mitchell Stuart was born in 1970 in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1976. He has always communicated and expressed himself freely through the language of art. He was lucky enough to have the selection of either artist or musician for career at a very early age. It seems that art as a performance a visual narrative coincided with his early passion for movies. To design the future, to tell a story, make a statement and visually document nature become an obsession. While all the other kids were out playing in the sun Mitch was fascinated with his new set of Faber Castel pencil crayons and how much farther they could advance his art! Life's journey saw Mitch graduate art college in 1992 with his sights set on an illustration career. While freelancing, he did 7 years in broadcast television as senior graphics operator for Global Television. The marriage of traditional art and digital production brought him back to the passion started all. The power of visual storytelling in film.

Mitch creates digital matte paintings, concept art, animates, illustrates and storyboards through his freelance company, AKHUA Media Inc. He has a substantial list of feature film production credits as well as numerous years of experience in a position of seniority. He is also a published writer and a professional musician.

Currently, Mitch has developed a pop-culture following with his coffee stain art, some of which are found in his recent books: "Coffee with Mitch" and "Coffee with Mitch Refilled". The sketches are drawn with ink and painted on site with fresh coffee.
